Requesting a ROM Post

ROMs of this devices are posted in the Telegram channel, alongside this site ROMs index. To request your ROM to be posted, Please follow this guide carefully.

1. Go to this ROM post repo, where we archive all of the existing RM6785 ROM posts.

2. Go to the issues tab, and create new issue. You will be presented with a list of template to choose from.

3. Select “Post a build”. Give it an appropriate title, such as the ROM you’re posting.

4. Next, you need to provide a JSON containing the data of the post. If you are automating this with a script, use the schema that we provide. Otherwise, if you’re writing the JSON by hand, you may refer to the examples that we have,

   • ROM
   • recovery
   • kernel

Some Unimportant Fun Fact

Before this system, we used to require people to make a post with a Telegram message that adheres to the channel format, manually. And then, we’d use a bot with a sophisticated (not really) and fragile parser to validate that the post do indeed adheres to our required format. Now, with this system, not only that the post is automatically made following the format we require, it also means we can archive the JSONs in a single repo, and use the JSONs to generate the index. This way, people without Telegram can still view the builds.

This method of handling post request was suggested by Elohim, and it allows us not just to build the index, but it also means we don’t have to endlessly invite everyone that wants to post into the release request group.

Lastly, even before this, the post standardisation was already there, and it was thanks to Samar and Sundae. Thanks to the standardisation, we were able to generate JSONs of all the old ROMs automatically without needing to do it by hand because they all share the same format, which naturally allows us to write a singular parser for all of them and have all of the old ROMs show up on this site index.
